Load Path and Base Reinforcement

A still-wine bottle runs 1.2 to 1.8 kg filled. Champagne and heavy-based spirits exceed 2 kg. Box load capacity should be at least twice the actual filled weight. That means the base carries most of the load, so we don't leave it to a single paper layer.

Bases need a reinforcing card, a double layer, or an EVA or moulded-pulp tray carrying the load. Lid-and-base and drawer formats are highest risk at the base. We check those constructions first when a customer sends bottle sample or dimensions.

Handle and Divider Failure Points

Handle failure is the most common complaint on multi-bottle boxes. We add a folded-back paper layer at the handle position. That detail spreads the load across the board instead of letting a die-cut edge carry it. On 4/6-bottle magnetic boxes we put that layer in the handle zone before assembly.

For in-store assembly, the divider is where errors happen. We build in orientation arrows plus asymmetric locating tabs, so a reversed divider physically will not seat. Structure solves it, not training. Where one box must take two bottle diameters, we put two fold positions on one divider, marked A and B on the reverse.

Window Position and Bottle Label Verification

Window position is verified against both bottle labels, not sized from one bottle type. That matters in a windowed corrugated carrier where the front panel is also a stacking surface. We check sight lines before artwork is approved so the label doesn't shift out of frame.
